Cathay Pacific adopts EzyCustomsTM in compliance with Air Automated Manifest System (AAMS) requirements in the US

(Hong Kong, 16 Jan. 2008) -- Global Logistics Systems (HK) Co Ltd ("GLS HK"), the leading provider of e-cargo information management in the Asia Pacific region, announced today Cathay Pacific Cargo adopts GLS HK's EzyCustomsTM system as its customs gateway to conform with the Air Automated Manifest System (AAMS) requirements of the US Customs and Border Protection Bureau (CBP).

The EzyCustomsTM system enables carriers such as Cathay Pacific to perform compliance verification and waybill records management with just a simple click of the mouse. The system will also issue alerts if any discrepancies are identified before the final submission of the air conveyance report to the CBP.

GLS HK Chief Operating Officer Lily Lai said: "The direct connectivity provided by EzyCustomsTM will allow Cathay Pacific to enjoy the benefits of improved business performance through the automation and standardization of procedures for US Customs clearance. The system provides full visibility for all related processes and helps to avoid the incorrect submission of shipping information and the subsequent risk of financial penalties or, worse still, the delay or rejection of shipments."

Rather than providing a simple switching mechanism between airline and Customs Authorities, EzyCustomsTM offers a one-stop integrated electronic multi-Customs system platform that enables carriers to automatically convert FWB, FHL and FFM into different Customs message formats. At the same time, it can validate data for compliance, identify discrepancies and send exception alerts to carriers.

"Our goal when developing EzyCustomsTM was to allow participating carriers to minimize their costs in developing, modifying and keeping their systems up-to-date to meet the evolving requirements of international Customs Authorities," says Ms Lai. "Another benefit is that the system supports IATA's "Simplifying the Business" drive for a cargo paper-free environment."

EzyCustomsTM is already connected with a number of the world's Customs systems, including the AAMS of the US Customs and Border Protection Bureau, the CBSA of the Canada Border Services Agency and MAREVA of France's La Douane. Connections with the Customs systems of the European Union and India are identified as next priority.
